Coming into the 2025 Major League Baseball season, the Cincinnati Reds had one of the better farm systems in all of baseball. That remains true entering the month of May, as multiple prospects continue to impress throughout the organization. As the Reds aim for playoff contention in the majors, who knows which prospects could wind up playing a role as soon as this summer?
For now, all fans can do is follow which players are excelling with their respective affiliates. With that being said, let’s dive into some of the top performances from the Reds biggest prospects over the past week…
RHP Chase Burns (#1 Reds Prospect per MLB.com)
This past Friday marked the second start for Chase Burnes since being promoted to Double-A. The 22nd-ranked prospect in all of baseball continued his early-season dominance with an eight-strikeout performance over five innings, surrendering just one run. Most impressively, Burns got the job done in just 59 pitches, with 45 being strikes. In five starts this season, Burns owns a 2.61 earned run average with 33 strikeouts in 20.2 innings. Simply put, Burns is living up to his second overall pick hype.
2B/3B Sal Stewart (#3 Reds Prospect per MLB.com)
For a few hitless days, it appeared as if Sal Stewart’s strong start at the plate was cooling off. That was until the past three games, where Stewart has had seven hits across 11 at-bats. As pure of a contact hitter as the Reds have in their system, Stewart’s three-game heater has seen four doubles, two walks, a run batted in, and five runs scored. Oh, and he’s only struck out twice. Stewart’s batting average has now increased to .308, as he is well on his way to a career-year that could end in a Triple-A promotion.

SS Edwin Arroyo (#5 Reds Prospect per MLB.com)
Edwin Arroyo has cooled off over the last two games, but he was red hot over the weekend. Between April 30th and May 4th, Arroyo totaled nine hits in 20 at-bats in five games. The stretch also saw Arroyo add two runs batted in, a walk, and four runs scored to his season totals. It is great to see him hitting well and playing healthy, which will be the overarching goal of his 2025 season.
RHP Chase Petty (#6 Reds Prospect per MLB.com)
After a forgettable nine-run MLB debut a week ago, Chase Petty had his best start of the year in Triple-A on Tuesday. The 22-year-old pitched a six-inning no-hitter, walking three and striking out eight. It made for a great bounce-back performance for Petty, who has allowed just three runs over his last five Triple-A starts. For Petty, rebuilding that confidence and continuing to perfect his command will be key for an MLB return in 2025.
SS Sammy Stafura (#8 Reds Prospect per MLB.com)
With a hit in every game since April 29th, Sammy Stafura makes his season debut on the Reds weekly prospect review list. The shortstop has 11 hits over the past seven games, including four multi-hit performances. The 20-year-old is making strides in Single-A, showing more comfort at the plate and improved discipline in his swing. On the year, Stafura now has a .406 on-base percentage with two home runs and 12 runs batted in.
