The New York Yankees have not lived up to their “Bronx Bombers” nickname recently. They’ve gotten shut out in their last three games, including their last two at home vs. the Los Angeles Angels. Additionally, they’ve scored a combined five runs over their five-game losing streak.

The Angels won 1-0 in 11 innings on Monday before winning 4-0 on Tuesday, and they’re now just a half-game behind the Texas Rangers for third place in the AL West and two games out of a Wild Card spot. Meanwhile, the Yankees’ lead over the Tampa Bay Rays atop the AL East has shrunk to 2.5 games.
New York made a roster adjustment ahead of Wednesday’s rematch with Los Angeles, via FanSided’s Robert Murray.

“The Yankees are activating right-hander J.T. Brubaker, sources say,” he reported. “Brubaker was acquired by the Yankees from the [Pittsbrugh] Pirates in March last year and after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2023 and suffering cracked ribs in spring training this season, Brubaker is back in the majors.”

The 31-year-old has a career 9-28 record with a 4.99 ERA over 63 appearances, including 61 starts.
New York got Brubaker and for international signing bonus pool space from Pittsburgh in exchange for a player to be named later, who ended up being infielder Keiner Delgado in April 2024.
Southpaw hurler Ryan Yarbrough will start for the Yankees against Angels right-hander Jack Kochanowicz on Wednesday night. New York will play Los Angeles again on Thursday before hosting the last-place Baltimore Orioles.
