Jamie Arnold is going to be picked in the top 10 picks of the 2025 MLB draft. The only questions are how high will the FSU Seminole go, and which team will take him. Arnold is one of several former FSU players currently at the MLB scouting combine, and while he is not competing on the field, he is still making the most of his time in Phoenix, Arizona.

He recently appeared on MLB Network and discussed what he was accomplishing during the event with Lance Brozdowski and Jim Callis.

“I’m just having a bunch of meetings, meeting with a good amount of teams, just trying to get to know me,” he explained. “I’m doing some media stuff so its just trying to meet everyone, have a fun weekend.”

Arnold had an excellent junior season, posting a 2.98 ERA in 84 2/3 innings with 119 strikeouts and 27 walks. He held opponents to a .208 batting average and has already made multiple All-American teams. One of the reasons for his success is his slider, which he broke down the “baby spike grip” he uses and the different ways he throws it for Brozdowski.

“I do a good job manipulating it,” he explained. “If I’m facing a lefty i want that two-plane depth, if I’m facing a righty, first-pitch i just try to front door it, almost like get them to take it and make it it a little bigger. When I want that two-plane tilt backfoot to a righty, I tilt it. I just have good feel for it and over the year’s its gotten better the more I’ve thrown it.”

The 2025 MLB draft will take place on July 13-14 and Arnold is set to be one of several Seminoles drafted. He is looking to become the first FSU pitcher drafted in the first round since Luke Weaver in 2014.
