The Philadelphia Phillies transferred starting pitcher Aaron Nola to the 60-day injured list on Thursday, the team announced.

Nola, 32, made nine starts before being placed on the 15-day injured list with a right ankle sprain on May 16. He then developed a stress fracture in his rib cage.

He is 1-7 with a 6.16 ERA in 49.2 innings and had a 14.0-inning scoreless streak across three starts from April 27 to May 9, which was his longest scoreless streak since his 15.0-inning streak in 2020.

The Baton Rouge, La., native surpassed Curt Schilling for the ninth-most innings pitched by a Phillie in his start on May 3 and is 13 strikeouts shy of tying Cole Hamels for the third-most strikeouts in franchise history. Nola was originally selected by the Phillies in the first round (7th overall) of the 2014 MLB Draft.

Also on Thursday, the team announced that it selected the contract of infielder Buddy Kennedy from triple-A Lehigh Valley. To make room for Kennedy on the 26-man roster, infielder/outfielder Weston Wilson was optioned to Lehigh Valley following Wednesday night’s game against the Marlins.

Nola was transferred to the 60-day IL to make room for Kennedy on the 40-man roster.

Kennedy, 26, has appeared in 61 games for the IronPigs this season, slashing .283/.388/.447 (.835 OPS) with 35 runs, 11 doubles, one triple, eight home runs, 40 RBI and 31 walks.

The Millville, N.J., native posted a .308 on-base percentage in 13 plate appearances across eight games with the Phillies last season. Originally selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the fifth round of the 2017 MLB Draft, Kennedy, who graduated from Millville High School, was acquired by the Phillies from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for cash considerations on June 7, 2024.

The 30-year-old Wilson has slashed .194/.310/.278 (.588 OPS) with one home run in 22 games for the Phillies this season.
