Texas baseball team won 2005 national championship

Five facts about the 2005 Texas baseball team, which won the Longhorns’ sixth national championship.

Texas baseball reeled in one of the top hitters on the transfer market this week.

Former Seton Hall outfielder Aiden Robbins has committed to play for the Longhorns, he announced Wednesday on social media. Robbins, who was named first-team All-Big East as a sophomore in 2025, ranked in the top 10 nationally by hitting .422.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder slugged .652 thanks to six home runs and 19 doubles. Robbins was also 20-for-21 on stolen base attempts and finished the season with fewer strikeouts (32) than walks (44). The right-handed hitter wasn’t a highly touted prospect coming out of his eastern Pennsylvania high school but batted over .300 with six homers as a freshman.

Robbins has two years of eligibility remaining but reportedly could be picked in the MLB draft next month. He is seen as a potential top-50 selection, per Jon Doyle, a draft and scouting analyst.

He was said to be considering Tennessee and Texas A&M as well after entering the portal earlier this month.

Robbins is the third outfielder to transfer to a Texas team that was ranked No. 1 in the country at times this past season. In its first year under head coach Jim Schlossnagle, Texas finished 44-14 and lost in regionals.
