The Brewers and Cubs were rained out yesterday, a game which won’t be made up until August, so for all intents and purposes they’ll play the second of a two-game series this afternoon in Chicago. Chicago took game one of the series on Tuesday night, a close game in which the Brewers rued missed opportunities on the way to a 5-3 loss.

This afternoon, the Brewers will send Freddy Peralta to the mound instead of bumping Jacob Misiorowski — Wednesday’s scheduled starter — back a day. Miz will start tomorrow in Minneapolis, instead. Pat Murphy, when asked about it before today’s game, mentioned that Peralta was more locked into a specific routine, and Miz could use an extra day to keep healing the turned ankle from his first start.

Peralta pitched well in his last start, a 3-2 victory over St. Louis at American Family Field on Friday. In that game, he struck out six, walked one, and allowed one run on four hits while throwing 93 pitches. That followed one of his best starts of the year, when he had six innings of one-hit, no-run ball against San Diego, a game the Brewers lost 1-0. Peralta started against the Cubs on May 4 and twirled a beauty, six scoreless innings in which he allowed four hits and one walk while striking out seven.

Chicago will send Jameson Taillon to the mound. Taillon is a 33-year-old right-hander, and this season he’s 7-3 with a 3.48 ERA and 4.59 FIP. Taillon doesn’t walk many batters, but he also doesn’t strike out a ton of them, and he’s had issues with the home run ball this season: his 16 home runs allowed lead the National League. Taillon did pitch in the Cubs-Brewers series in early May as well, and he also pitched well, with six innings of two-run ball in a 6-2 victory on May 3rd.

The Brewers’ “best” lineup (and the same one they used on Tuesday) is on the field today, with yesterday’s unscheduled off-day possibly putting some veterans in the lineup that may not have been there on a Thursday getaway day game. Chicago is also using the same lineup it used on Tuesday.

First pitch today is at 1:20 p.m. on Fan Duel Sports Network Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network.
