Meanwhile, Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees trail them by one game in the overall league standings after Saturday’s 9-0 win over the Baltimore Orioles. The Yankees had to recalibrate after star slugger Juan Soto left them for the Mets in the winter, signing other veterans like Paul Goldschmidt and Cody Bellinger. However, both clubs are in similar positions despite the roster turnover.
One thing that’s stayed the same for the Yankees is Judge leading the offense. The two-time AL MVP is well on his way to his third, as he leads baseball with a .367 batting average and a 1.199 OPS. He’s also second with 27 homers and tied for fourth with 61 RBI.

“Sometimes it’s just your time to fail. It doesn’t mean you are OK with it,” he said. “Aaron Judge, for example – amazing hitter, MVP … But in the playoffs, it was a huge slump. Did he want to pick that time for it? No. But it’s baseball. It happens to everyone.”

Nimmo is pulling his weight for the Mets, as he’s on a three-game hitting streak and is slashing .282/.346/.507 with four homers and 10 RBI in June.
The Mets lost 10-2 to the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night, and they now trail them by one game atop the NL East. On the other hand, the Yankees have a 1.5-game lead over the Tampa Bay Rays for first place in the AL East.
The Mets will try to avoid a series loss against the Phillies on Saturday night.
