Who should represent Detroit Tigers in MLB All-Star game?

The “Days of Roar” podcast debates which players from the Detroit Tigers should make an appearance in the 2025 MLB All-Star Game, set for July 15.

Even in a different state, the Detroit Tigers can’t escape the rain.

After having their game with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, June 18, postpooned because of weather, the Tigers were scheduled for a doubleheader on Thursday, June 19 . When Thursday rolled around, there was more bad weather in the area, and the first game of the day was delayed 40 minutes to start, and the last game of the day was extended 75 minutes, until late in the night, when pouring rain rolled into Detroit during the ninth inning.

Now on Friday, June 20, in their first-ever outdoor series against the Tampa Bay Rays in Tampa, Florida, the Tigers are dealing with another delay.

Despite relatively clear forecasts entering the weekend, a storm popped up on Friday, pushing Game 1 of the series, originally set to start at 7:05 p.m., into a rain delay. The game against the Rays is now slated to start at 7:55 p.m.

Hurricane Milton destroyed the roof of Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, the Rays’ traditional home field that’s protected from the unpredictable Florida summer weather, so the Rays are playing their home games at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida. It’s not an unfamiliar site for the Tigers; it’s the New York Yankees‘ spring training field as well as home (in previous seasons) to the Low-A Tampa Tarpons, the Yankees’ affiliate.

The Rays franchise had their first-ever home rain delay in May and celebrated by handing out free ponchos. Now, the Tigers have become the latest victims of the Tampa Bay area’s tumultuous weather and will wait it out until officials decide the game can get underway.
