SAN FRANCISCO — As he promised to do recently, Alex Cora has shuffled the Red Sox lineup as the team faces a lefthanded starter.
With Robbie Ray on the mound for the Giants, Rob Refsnyder is leading off and Jarren Duran has been dropped to fifth.
Cora said last week there would be adjustments — including taking Duran out of the top spot in the order — to achieve better left-right balance.
Sunday will also mark the first time Nate Eaton is part of the starting lineup. He’s playing third base as Marcelo Mayer gets a day off from the lefty.
Additionally, Romy Gonzalez is getting a rate start at second base.
A victory in the rubber game Sunday afternoon would extend the team’s series winning streak to five straight and virtually assure the Sox of a winning record on their current nine-game swing to the West Coast.
