CREIGHTON – Despite trailing by as many as four runs, Albion Post #162 Juniors rallied to defeat Post 81/BullSnakes (Wakefield) 15-6 on Saturday in Creighton to win the juniors bracket of the Berry Pepper Days Tournament.

Albion scored 12 runs in the fourth inning on their way to victory. Rylan Hoadley singled to score a run; Kaden Miller scored two runs on a single; Wade Rother singled to score a run; two runs came across on a Carter Molt double; Brody Schmeits would double to score two runs; Blue Zoucha grounded out to score a run; Miller and Rother would score another run on a single and walk, respectively; and a wild pitch scored another run.

Wakefield jumped out to the lead in the top of the first after Tanner Thompson drew a walk to score a run before a Tristan Connell double scored a run and Turner Thompson’s single scored another run.

A ground out by Turner extended Wakefield’s lead to 5-3 in the top of the third.

Molt started the game for Albion, surrendering six hits and six runs with two walks and five strikeouts over 4.2 innings.

Benny Palma opened the game for Wakefield, giving up three runs (two earned) on no hits with three walks in 4.1 innings.

Miller led Albion with three RBIs on a 2-for-3 effort, while he and Zoucha each collected two hits for Albion. Jace Rasmussen led Albion with three walks as they team piled jup 10 of them on the day.

Connell and Jacob Birkley each collected two hits for Wakefield, while Turner led the way with two runs batted in. Matthew Metzler stole three bases on the day.
