The team is fresh off winning seven out of their last ten games and has been surging offensively as of late, averaging 4.8 runs per game—which ties them for fourth-best in the league—while their power numbers remain modest at 84 homers (ranking 14th). However, their aggressive base running, evident in leading the league with 104 stolen bases, adds another level to their game, led by rookie speedster Chandler Simpson.

Drafted as the 70th overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft out of the Georgia Institute of Technology, Simpson has shown that he possesses elite speed to make an impact in the Major Leagues.

On Monday, the Rays made a roster move sending outfielder Kameron Misner back to Triple-A, clearing a spot on the active roster that is expected to be filled on Tuesday by Simpson.

Rays fans on X reacted to the news with excitement.

During his previous stint on the major league roster, Simpson appeared in 35 games, posting a .285 batting average while stealing 19 bags.

Following that period, he was sent down to the Rays’ Triple-A affiliate, the Durham Bulls, where in 16 June games he excelled by hitting .366 with a .416 on-base percentage and a .465 slugging percentage, stealing 11 bases and striking out only eight times in 71 at-bats.
