Top Pitching Performance of the Week
Jacob Misiorowski is the easy choice here, as he went six perfect innings in his second career start before finally giving up a walk and a homer in the seventh on Friday night against the Twins. Through two appearances, he’s now gone 11 innings, struck out 11, and allowed just the two runs on one hit and five walks. Honorable mention to Jose Quintana, who tossed six scoreless in a win on Saturday.
Top Hitting Performance of the Week
This was a great overall week for the offense, but I’ll go with unsung hero Isaac Collins. Collins hit .389/.455/.833 with two homers, two doubles, eight RBIs, and seven runs scored this week. Honorable mention to Christian Yelich (.478/.500/.652 with four doubles, 11 RBIs, and two steals) and Joey Ortiz (10 hits with four RBIs and four runs scored).
Injury Notes & Roster Moves
OF Daz Cameron was reinstated from the paternity list on Monday, with OF Drew Avans optioned back to Triple-A Nashville to open up a roster spot.
OF Garrett Mitchell injured his shoulder sliding into a base on Friday while on a rehab assignment for an oblique injury at Triple-A Nashville. It’s unclear how severe the injury is, but it’s another setback for a player who has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career.
1B Wes Clarke, who hit .216/.352/.358 with six homers and 16 RBIs over 46 games at Triple-A Nashville, was traded to the Houston Astros for cash. He was assigned to Double-A Corpus Christi with the Astros’ organization.
RHPs Nick DeCarlo and Chang Tzu-Chun Lin were signed to minor league contracts.
