Mariners DFA former Blue Jays first baseman Rowdey Tellez
The Mariners shocked the baseball world yesterday as they announced that they decided to DFA Tellez despite putting up very decent numbers this season on an average Mariners teams.
The Mariners have designated Rowdy Tellez for assignment, per

Tellez was DFA’d by the Mariners to make room on their roster for Luke Raley who was activated from IL after missing some time with an oblique injury.Rowdy Tellez designated for assignment by the Mariners.
Luke Raley (oblique) activated from IL.
While Tellez is not having a career year by any means, he is still putting up decent numbers as he has 11 homeruns and 26 RBIs to go along with a .208 batting average so far this season.
There is a good chance that Tellez will avoid free agency as another team will certainly take a chance on him with these numbers either through a trade or claiming him off waivers.
Should be interesting to see if the Blue Jays look to possibly bring him back to Toronto since he did have one of the best year’s of his career back in 2019 with the Blue Jays when he hit 21 homeruns in 111 games.
