The Detroit Tigers have signed former Korean league standout Woo-Suk Go to a minor-league deal.

The 26-year-old right-hander agreed to terms with the Tigers less than a week after being released by the Miami Marlins.

Go, 26, was a standout closer in Korea who was granted permission to negotiate with MLB teams after the 2023 season.

Go was a dominant closer in the Korea Baseball Organization and received permission to negotiate with MLB teams following the 2023 season. He signed a two-year, $4.5 million deal with the San Diego Padres but was traded four months later to the Marlins in the Luis Arraez deal.

Miami removed Go from the 40-man roster last summer and then released him last week.

Although he has struggled across several minor-league stops since coming to the U.S., Go’s original scouting profile highlighted a strong reliever profile, with a mid-90s fastball and a plus slider.

The Tigers could assign him to Double-A Erie or Triple-A Toledo, or first send him to Lakeland, Florida, to work with coaches and get acclimated to the organization.
