CARTHAGE, Ill. — It’s been a good week of baseball for Illini West.
The Chargers won their fourth straight game and had their third straight 10-run or more game as Illini West defeated Peoria Heights 11-1 in six innings on Thursday.
While Illini West had a 2-0 lead after three innings, their offense really took off after that by scoring two in the fourth, five in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Chargers starting pitcher Ethan Carlisle picked up the win after throwing three scoreless innings with seven strikeouts, and allowing just two hits and no walks.
Wes Robertson pitched two scoreless innings in relief with four strikeouts for Illini West, with Tre Neiderman pitching the final inning.
Neiderman went 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and two runs, while Robertson went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Illini West left fielder Grady Blue went 2-for-3 with a walk, RBI, stolen base and two runs, while first baseman Nick Bruns went 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs. Right fielder Stephen Sparks went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a stolen base.
Up next for Illini West (21-8) is a home game against Macomb (12-13) at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
