Today’s roster move: Here

Tuesday notes…

WHERE’S THE LEAD?: The Cubs have never led in their last two games. They had failed to lead at some point in back-to-back games since they had three in a row, May 6-9, in two games at home vs. the Giants and one at New York against the Mets. The only earlier time they never led in consecutive games was April 9 and 11, at home vs. the Rangers and at Los Angeles against the Dodgers. (Courtesy BCB’s JohnW53)

CENTRALLY LOCATED: Despite Monday’s loss, the Cubs are still 12-7 (.632) against NL Central teams, the best winning percentage of any NL Central team against divisional opponents.

ALL-STAR UPDATE: As of Monday, Pete Crow-Armstrong (2,005,630) still leads NL outfielders, and Kyle Tucker (1,219,866) is third. The first round balloting ends at 11 a.m. CT this Thursday, June 26. You can cast your ballot here.

THIS DAY IN CUBS HISTORY: Rick Sutcliffe threw a five-hit complete-game shutout and struck out 14 Cardinals as the Cubs defeated St. Louis 5-0. Jody Davis hit a two-run homer. It happened Sunday, June 24, 1984, 41 years ago today.

Here are today’s particulars.

Jameson Taillon was on a great run until his last start, when he allowed the Brewers eight hits, five runs and two homers last Thursday at Wrigley Field.

Let’s hope that was a one-off. Last year Taillon made four starts against the Cardinals and posted a 3.47 ERA and 1.371 WHIP.

That’s about all I’ve got here. Have a good game, Jamo.

Michael McGreevy was the Cardinals’ first-round pick in 2021 out of UC-Santa Barbara, chosen three picks before the Cubs selected Jordan Wicks.

This will be his eighth MLB appearance (sixth start) and his third start this year. He had very good outings against the Mets and White Sox, not so much against the Dodgers. He has never faced the Cubs or anyone on their active roster.

At the same time, a StoryStream containing the preview will also post on the front page, titled “Cubs vs. (Team) (Day of week/date) game threads.” It will contain every post related to that particular game, including the First Pitch Thread and the overflow thread, as well as the recap when it’s published. The recap will also live on the front page as a separate post.

You will also be able to find the preview, First Pitch Thread and the overflow thread in the box marked “Chicago Cubs Game Threads” at the bottom of the front page (you can also find them in this section link). The StoryStream for each game can also be found in that section.

The First Pitch thread will post at five minutes before game time, then an overflow thread at 90 minutes after the scheduled game time.
