The San Francisco Giants welcome the Miami Marlins to Oracle Park tonight to begin a three-game series.
Taking the mound for the Giants will be right-hander Justin Verlander, who enters tonight’s game with a 4.45 ERA, 4.70 FIP, with 47 strikeouts to 22 walks in 56.2 innings pitched. His last start was in the Giants’ 4-2 loss to the Cleveland Guardians last Wednesday, in which he allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits, with six strikeouts and a walk in four and two thirds innings.
He’ll be facing off against Marlins right-hander Cal Quantrill, who enters tonight’s game with a 5.68 ERA, 4.45 FIP, with 48 strikeouts to 19 walks in 63.1 innings pitched. His last start was in the Marlins’ 8-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies last Tuesday, in which he allowed three runs on four hits with two strikeouts in four innings.
