Red Sox Trade Idea Sends Walker Buehler to Dodgers for Backup Help originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Boston Red Sox have been fortunate that Carlos Narvaez is playing the type of baseball that he is.

Narvaez, arguably one of the better catchers in the American League right now, is playing nearly daily, which could eventually become an issue. Because of that, and the Red Sox’s lack of a backup due to the Connor Wong dilemma, it could force the Red Sox to make a move.
In a recent trade idea from Colin Keane, they’d do exactly that in a deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers for Hunter Feduccia. Feduccia, 28 years old, has only 17 plate appearances in Major League Baseball.

“The door could be open for a new backup catcher. Enter Hunter Feduccia, a 28-year-old player in the Los Angeles Dodgers system who could be the perfect trade target to bolster Boston’s roster…

“Trading Feduccia for a need—perhaps a pitcher like Walker Buehler or an infielder like Vaughn Grissom—makes sense for Los Angeles, especially with Miguel Rojas aging and underperforming in the final year of his deal,” he wrote.
Despite only having 17 plate appearances, he’s swung the bat at a decent level throughout that, hitting .286 with three walks and three strikeouts.
In the minors, Feduccia has put it together, hitting .304 with four home runs.
In his minor league career, the left-handed hitting catcher is slashing .271/.376/.429 with 50 home runs in 1,729 at-bats.
He’s far from a sure thing, but the Red Sox need help behind the dish, and Feduccia would give them that.
