Dusty Baker, who spent 19 years in the major league as a power-hitting outfielder, and who has amassed a successful record as a championship manager, will be in Yuba City and Marysville Saturday.
Baker, who has frequented this area to hunt and fish, and who has established many relationships in the region, will be conducting a wine tasting of his family’s wines at Sopa Thai Restaurant on Plumas Street in the afternoon, and will be throwing out the first pitch at the Yuba-Sutter High Wheelers game against the Colorado Sprigs, Colo., Vibes at Bryant Field at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
Baker spent eight years with the Atlanta Braves, eight with the Dodgers of Los Angeles, one with the San Francisco Giants, and two with the Oakland A’s. He appeared in more than 2,000 games and made more than 8,000 plate appearances, driving in more than 1,000 runs.
Baker watched Hank Aaron’s iconic 715th career home run from the on deck circle.
He also had a successful career as a major league manager, leading five different teams to the postseason, including the Giants. He won a World Series as manager of the Houston Astros in 2022.

A native Californian, Baker enjoys the outdoors. Hunting, fishing. He is among the many professional athletes and performers who have found their way north to Yuba and Sutter counties over the decades.
The wine tasting event at Sopa Thai will occur from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Baker family runs a wine tasting room out of West Sacramento.
