DENVER (Kyodo) — Shohei Ohtani hit his National League-leading 27th home run of the season in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 9-7 win over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday.

His two-run shot to left in the sixth inning off Ryan Rolison was the 300th homer of his career combined between Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball and Major League Baseball. Ohtani hit 48 home runs in his five years as a professional in Japan.

The two-way star’s homer, his second in as many games, extended the Dodgers’ lead to 8-3 after they turned the game around with a six-run fourth that included Michael Conforto’s three-run homer at Coors Field.

Ohtani went hitless in his other four at-bats. Teoscar Hernandez doubled in an insurance run in the ninth as part of his two-RBI night.

The Dodgers have won eight of the last 10 games.

In other action, Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki hit a three-run homer, his 21st of the season, among his three hits in an 8-7 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.
