The Athletic | Chris Kirschner ($): A common theme of the Aaron Boone tenure as Yankees manager has been the June swoon. The Yankees generally tend to start and finish strong with Boone at the helm and usually find themselves in a playoff spot, but June seems to be a difficult month for the team to navigate through and this year isn’t any different. And it’s always the same story too, as they can’t seem to buy any runs. The offense tends to quiet down in June and this year is no different with the team 23rd overall in wRC+ for the month of June.

Athlon Sports | Kristie Ackert: Marcus Stroman continues to go through the rehab process to the excitement of almost no one. Sure, there’s room for a starting pitcher in the rotation with Ryan Yarbrough injured and Allan Winans (who?) having to fill in for him on Monday, but still no one is sure if Stroman is the answer. Out since April, Stroman’s most recent rehab assignment for Double-A Somerset on Tuesday wasn’t really giving anyone hope. He lasted just 3.2 innings, giving up five earned runs and ten hits. But hey at least his pitch count (65) was where the team might need him to be if they plug him back into the rotation. Exciting, huh?

The Athletic | Chris Kirschner ($): During an online Q&A session, Kirschner gave his thoughts on the upcoming Trade Deadline, what Aaron Boone’s greatest strength is as manager, and talks about what the future might hold for Jasson Domínguez as his splits are truly remarkable for a switch-hitter. The Yankees have the luxury of looking for either a second baseman or a third baseman to bolster their infield with Jazz Chisholm Jr. able to play either, but let’s see what the team ends up doing there, if anything at all.

FanGraphs | Michael Baumann: There was not a lot of news coming out of Yankeeland yesterday, so enjoy this profile on Chase Burns. He made his MLB debut yesterday against the Yankees, so might be of interest for anyone to see what makes Burns an interesting prospect. While I’m sure he would’ve wanted his debut to be spotless, five innings and only three runs while striking out eight batters is a pretty impressive start to a career.
