A.J. Ewing stole his 34th base in 37 tries Tuesday in his 46th game for the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones. The 20-year-old who was selected in the fourth round of the 2023 draft out of Springboro (Ohio) High School is second in the South Atlantic League in stolen bases. He’s also fourth in both batting average (.299) and on-base percentage (.414). He was promoted to Brooklyn after stealing 14 bases in 18 games at St. Lucie.

Tuesday marked the start of the second half for Triple-A and Double-A. The champs of the first half and the second half earn playoff spots. (If the same team wins both halves, the second half, the second-place team gets in.)

Clifford, who launched his homer to right, entered Tuesday tied for second in home runs in the Eastern League and 12th in OPS. These were the Binghamton debuts for Benge (2024 first round) and Reimer (2022 fourth round), who both earned a promotion after excellent first halves at Brooklyn. Benge hit four homers, 18 doubles, and five triples, stole 15, and posted an .897 OPS, and Reimer had eight homers, 18 doubles, 11 steals, and an .887 OPS.

Foster, 26, a 14th-round pick in 2022 from McNeese State, has struck out 25 in 18.2 IP for Binghamton.
