DONNELLSON — The Central Lee High School softball team was facing a nemesis Tuesday when West Burlington-Notre Dame came to play a Super Conference South Division game.

Maybe that moniker should be a former nemesis.

The Falcons watched as Central Lee clinched another South Division title, its third consecutive.

The Hawks disposed of WBND in five innings 9-1 with some power hitting. It was the third straight win over the Falcons and the Hawks have five wins in the last six games against WBND.

The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Marie Young doubled in a run.

The Falcons tied it with an unearned run in the top of the second.

The Hawks responded with a run in the second inning, four in the third and three in the fourth.

Young was 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Carlee Pezley is healthy again, hitting a single and a home run. Kenna Sandoval also had a home run. Jali Hawk was 2-for-3. Jalyn Hawk gave up six hits and walked one for the five-inning victory.

The Hawks are 18-3, 10-0 in the South with WBND third at 7-4 and Mediapolis second at 8-3. The Hawks hosted Washington Wednesday and go to New London Thursday.
