Former New York Yankees first baseman Don Mattingly will be the guest speaker at the Law Foundation of Berks County and PICPA 17th Annual Holiday Benefit Luncheon on Friday, Dec. 5 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Reading.
Tickets for the event will go on sale in September. Proceeds from the luncheon support programs providing equal access to legal services and benefiting Berks County youth.
Mattingly was the 1985 American League MVP and a nine-time Gold Glove Award winner at first base.
He played all 14 seasons of his big-league career with the Yankees, finishing with a .307 batting average. He had 2,153 hits and 222 home runs.
Mattingly, 64, has been the bench coach with Toronto Blue Jays since 2022. He was the manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2011 to 2015, making his major league debut on March 31, 2011 against the San Francisco Giants.
Mattingly’s son, Preston, is the general manager of the Philadelphia Phillies.
