The Dodgers continue their road trip two states over from Colorado to Missouri, opening a series against the Royals on Friday night at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.

This is just the eighth interleague series between these two teams, with the Dodgers winning five of the previous seven, going 12-9 overall. Both Royals series wins came at home, sweeping the Dodgers in 2005 — the start of a particularly terrible stretch of 15 interleague road losses in a row — and winning two out of three games in 2023.

Kansas City won a playoff series last season but this year are flirting with .500, currently in third place in the American League Central but at least within shouting distance of a wild card spot.

Dustin May makes his final start of June, having lasted six innings in three of his last four starts. This will be his first career start against Kansas City.

Rookie left-hander Noah Cameron starts for the Royals, having allowed two or fewer runs in seven of his eight major league starts to date.
