Overall, Thursday went quite well for the Miami Marlins, as they defeated the San Francisco Giants 12-5 to finish a three-game sweep at Oracle Park. One bad Marlins moment, though, stood out. And Giants announcer Mike Krukow had a few things to say about it.

The Marlins broke a 5-5 tie in the top of the fifth inning when a pair of two-out hits from Eric Wagaman and Connor Norby drove in three runs. Following them in the order was Dane Myers, who struck out on three pitches to end the inning. After striking out, Myers immediately broke his bat over his knee, slammed both pieces to the ground, then spiked his helmet. As the teams were walking back to their respective dugouts, Krukow was heard saying, “Bush,” right before the broadcast went to commercial.

“Bush.”

In the bottom half of the inning, Krukow and play-by-play man Dave Flemming discussed Myers’ post-strikeout antics a little more.

“That just doesn’t feel good when you do this,” Krukow said. “But I’ll tell you what, that’s impressive.”

Krukow, a former pitcher, then discussed what seeing a hitter react like that after a strikeout does to a pitcher.

“Look, he’s a young player,” Krukow noted. “If he knew how much the opposing pitcher got out of that and how enjoyable it is, he would never do it again.”

“He should know,” Flemming interjected. “He was a former pitcher.”

Mike Krukow and Dave Flemming further discussed Myers’ “impressive” tantrum.

“You’re right,” Krukow conceded. “He should. I mean, if I struck a guy and he did that, I’d be walking back to the bench going ‘heh heh heh heh heh.’”
