Wednesday’s Dodgers minor league action started with the highest of high notes, with Emmet Sheehan striking out 13 in six perfect innings for Oklahoma City.

But here’s what happened in the rest of the minors.

Player of the day

Great Lakes outfielder Mike Sirota continued to run roughshod through the Midwest League. He doubled home a run in the first inning and hit a two-run home run in the sixth in Fort Wayne on Wednesday, giving him 15 extra-base hits in 27 games since getting promoted to the Loons on May 13.

Sirota in High-A is hitting a robust .348/.462/.652 with 25 RBI, and has homered in consecutive games.

Triple-A Oklahoma City

Comets pitchers retired their first 22 batters faced but settled for a two-hit road rout of the Sacramento River Cats (Giants) with 17 strikeouts.

Garrett McDaniels followed Sheehan with a perfect seventh inning, and Sam Carlson struck out his first batter in the eighth before first baseman Drew Ellis lined a single to center for Sacramento’s first baserunner. Nick Frasso allowed a two-out double in the ninth inning. The last no-hitter for Oklahoma City was August 14, 2009, by right-hander Luis Mendoza when the then-RedHawks were a Rangers affiliate.

On offense, James Outman hit a three-run home run and Ryan Ward hit a solo shot in a four-run third inning. The Comets followed with eight runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth. Esteury Ruíz had three hits, including a double. Ward, Kody Hoese, Nick Senzel, and Austin Gauthier all had two hits in the blowout.

Double-A Tulsa

The Drillers’ offensive woes continued, scoring only once in a loss to the Frisco RoughRiders (Rangers), spoiling a bullpen game in which Tulsa pitchers allowed only three runs.

High-A Great Lakes

Sirota and friends paced a double-digit Loons shutout of the Fort Wayne TinCaps (Padres).

Much like Oklahoma City earlier in the day, Great Lakes also faced a position player late in their blowout win. Jake Gelof took advantage by hitting a three-run home run to pad the score in the ninth, but also had a double and single earlier against actual pitchers.

Roque Gutierrez didn’t need all that run support but gladly accepted it with his five scoreless innings, his best outing in about seven weeks.

Low-A Rancho Cucamonga

The Quakes had as many hits (four) as errors (four) in a loss to the San Jose Giants.

Sterling Patick struck out seven in his start and didn’t allow a run until the fifth inning. One of the two runs he allowed in that final frame was unearned. The 20-year-old left-hander has allowed two or fewer earned runs in nine straight starts, with a 2.27 ERA, 40 strikeouts, and 12 walks in 35⅔ innings over that span.

Though Rancho Cucamonga lost, they can take solace in knowing that San Jose right-hander Ryan Slater recorded a four-inning save to close this one out.

Transactions

Triple-A: After shortstop Alex Freeland was placed on the 7-day injured list on Tuesday, infielder and 2024 seventh-round draft pick Elijah Hainline got the call to Oklahoma City all the way from Rancho Cucamonga. Hainline entered a 15-0 game and played the final four innings at shortstop, and hit a 101-mph line drive that was caught in right field in his first Triple-A at-bat.

High-A: On Tuesday, pitcher Luke Fox was placed on the 7-day injured list.
