Despite the White Sox having one of the worst records in the league again in 2025, they look like a much better baseball team compared to last year, as there have been plenty of close games that could have gone either way.

This leads fans to look into the minor leagues for success stories of players who may be joining the team in Chicago when they are in their window for contention. We take a look at the Low-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, and see who has been playing over the last month, as these players could be on the move to Winston-Salem sooner rather than later.

George Wolkow

In the month of June, George Wolkow has been on fire, as he has hit .339 with a .448 on base percentage through 56 at-bats. If that wasn’t impressive enough, he is slugging .554 due to adding four homeruns in that time frame. He also has 11 RBIs and two stolen bases to go along with some nice plays in the field.

After a slow start to the season Wolkow has come on strong and raised his average to .223 and his OBP .317. While these numbers aren’t the greatest, Wolkow was hitting .132 at the end of April so his average has been on a steady increase.

Since Wolkow reclassified in the draft, he is significantly younger than most players in low-A, as he is only 19. This is just his second season in the minor leagues and if he continues to play well into the summer, he could find his way to high-A for a promotion.

Ryan Burrowes

Ryan Burrowes has also had a very good month of June, as he is hitting .310 with a .339 OBP in 58 at-bats. Over that stretch he’s added two homeruns, 10 RBIs, and four stolen bases. This is exactly what the White Sox wanted to see out of Burrowes, as he had a tough start to the season.

Burrowes has now raised his average to .249 and has a very solid. 330 OBP. While he has only taken one walk in the month of June, he had 13 in May, so the ability is there. Burrowes also has 20 stolen bases already, so he is on pace for nearly 40+, which would be a great season.

Burrowes is just 20 years old and is in his second season playing minor league baseball. He has a ton of upside, as he has a nice power and speed combination, which could lead to him being a guy who hits 15 homeruns and steals 40 bases. The White Sox have a ton of intriguing middle infield prospects in the lower minors so Burrowes will need to continue to paly well to stand out and make an impression on the front office.

TJ McCants

Another player that has had a great month of June is 2024 16th round pick, TJ McCants. In 50 at-bats in June, McCants is hitting .300 but has an elite .435 OBP.

McCants has added one homerun, two doubles, eight RBIs and has walked 12 times to just 14 strikeouts, which is a very good ratio. On top of that, he has added five stolen bases.

While McCants doesn’t add much in the power department, he is a very good contact hitter and gets on base, which is exactly what Chris Getz looks for in a player. Overall, after getting a late start due to injury, McCants is hitting .301 with a .398 OBP. He has 14 RBIs and nine stolen bases.

McCants is 24, so he is a bit older than the average player in low-A, which means he could be due for a promotion sooner rather than later to see what he can do. McCants is playing much better than your normal 16th round pick, so he has been a positive development in the White Sox farm system.
