Prayers are pouring in for one of baseball’s most respected respect managers, Ron Washington of the Los Angeles Angels.

On Friday, the Angels announced that Washington will be remaining on medical leave for the remainder of the season. In his absence Ray Montgomery will continue to serve as the team’s interim manager.
In a statement, Angeles general manager Perry Minasian revealed that Washington has been unwell and is seeking more tests with doctors to help with his medical issues.
Washington went on medical leave last Friday and Minasian made it clear that the priority was ensuring that the Angels manager was at full health.
“We’re going to make sure we cross every T, dot every I, and make sure he’s 100 percent before he’s back in the dugout and managing,” Minasian said on June 20. “We all know how important this is, but certain things are bigger than baseball, and health is obviously first and foremost.”
Washington’s career in baseball spans nearly 50 years as a player, coach and manager. He played for five different Major League Baseball clubs between 1977 and 1989 before going into coaching.

In 1996, Washington was hired as a base coach for the Oakland A’s, a position he would hold until 2006, when he was hired by the Texas Rangers as their head coach. Washington would lead the Rangers on back-to-back trips to the World Series in 2010 and 2011 and finished his tenure with the team with a .521 winning percentage.

After resigning in 2014, he joined the Atlanta Braves, where he would win a World Series ring as one of their coaches in 2021.
More success in Atlanta opened the door for Washington to get the Angels job in 2024. The team went 63-99 in his first year, finishing 5th in the AL West.

As it stands, the Angels are 40-40 on the year.
We hope Washington makes a full recovery and is back to coaching when he’s ready.
