The Atlanta Braves have unfortunately only made one roster transaction today. It was an expected one.
Michael Petersen is the sacrificial bullpen arm, after giving a rain-soaked Bryce Elder a life raft in the third inning. He soaked up 2.2 innings with some decently good low-leverage action. He will make way for Kevin Herget.

Herget is on his fifth team in five years and would make his Braves debut, were he to pitch tonight. He has a lifetime 4.63/4.19/5.10 line in 44.2 relief innings. He has a 95 MPH fastball and brings a cutter, a changeup, and mop-up depth to Atlanta.
The Bible in a Year podcast listed the verse “I will send fire on the walls of Tyre” as part of the reading today. I see what y’all did there. The deluge that hit last night didn’t overcome the Tyre fire that is burning through Braves Country.
