Zach Thompson dives into Saturday night’s featured MLB DFS slate on DraftKings to find undervalued players to put in your lineups.
Major League Baseball has a smaller but still compelling three-game slate on tap for Saturday night’s contests. The night slate starts at 7:15 p.m. ET when the Cubs visit the Astros and the Braves host the Phillies. The late-night hammer is from Anaheim, where the Nats and Angels meet after Friday’s exciting series opener. Looking at the available options, there are a few MLB DFS value plays that stand out with the potential to be great bargain options on Saturday night. Each player has a favorable matchup and strong recent form that indicates a good chance of delivering elite value.
The only one of these three games with potential weather issues is the NL East matchup in Atlanta, where pop-up storms can sometimes cause delays like they did on Friday. After a long delay, they played (or at least the Phillies did) and were able to get the game in. The same thing could happen again Saturday night, although the storm coverage looks lighter overall. Be sure to check back for weather and lineup updates before the games start.

SP Colin Rea, Chicago Cubs at Houston Astros, $6,200
The starting pitching options are pretty thin on this slate, but if you don’t want to pay up for the two starters in the Braves-Phillies outing, the other four options all come with pretty big red flags. Rea is the cheapest of the bunch at barely more than $6,000, so he would have to do the least to return value.
He’s actually been pretty solid for most of the season, although he did get thumped last Sunday by the Mariners. To be fair, the wind was blowing out and it was perfect home run weather, but he gave up seven runs on 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings. He turned in a quality start with six innings against the Pirates in his previous outing and had 14.5 fantasy points in that outing. He has over 11 fantasy points in four of his last seven games and has fared better on the road than at home.
Rea will face the Astros in Houston on Saturday night, which isn’t a great matchup, but it isn’t the worst on the board for the bargain options, so he stands out as the best value play if you have to go cheap at pitcher on Saturday night.
3B Brady House, Washington Nationals at Los Angeles Angels, $3,200
I highlighted House as one of my top home run props and I also think he’ll be a great value play at the hot corner for DFS contests. House hit .304 with 13 homers and a .382 wOBA in Triple-A this season with a 46.0% hard-hit rate. He earned his call-up to the majors earlier this month and is hitting .256 with two doubles and two surprising stolen bases in his 11 games, averaging 5.7 fantasy points per game.
House came up huge on Friday with an RBI double in the seventh inning which drove in the go-ahead run to break the 9-9 tie. He has a 36.4% hard-hit rate on the season with an average exit velocity of 88.4 miles per hour. Over his last four games, though, his average exit velocity has jumped to 90.4 miles per hour.
He’s in a good spot against Angels starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks, who has given up 14 homers in 15 starts. 10 of those have been hit by right-handed hitters, who have a .316 average with a .392 wOBA against him. If House gets his first MLB homer like I predicted, he’ll be a great play. Even if he doesn’t, he still has the potential to continue to be a solid value.
2B Christian Moore, Los Angeles Angels vs. Washington Nationals, $2,800
Moore is another recent call-up who can be a good value play for your Saturday night squad. Moore is only hitting .190 but has a .302 wOBA and three home runs. He went 0-for-7 in his first few games and is hitting .222 since then with a 37.5% hard-hit rate and 12.5% barrel rate.
In Double-A and Triple-A, Moore hit .279 with five homers and eight stolen bases in his 54 games. He hasn’t flashed that speed yet in the majors, but he is settling in quickly and establishing himself as a key part of the team’s future. The No. 8 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft has skyrocketed through the minors and will continue to be a regular for the Halos, bringing good value upside, especially if he’s hitting ninth right in front of the top of the order.
