CLEVELAND, Ohio — Guardians prospects C.J. Kayfus and Parker Messick will represent the franchise on the American League roster for the All-Star Futures Game on July 12 in Atlanta.

Kayfus, ranked the club’s No. 5 prospect, has followed up his breakout 2024 season by advancing to Triple-A Columbus where he is hitting .309 with 10 home runs and 33 RBI in 50 games for the Clippers.

Messick, a second-round pick out of Florida State in 2022, is the organization’s No. 12 prospect. The 24-year-old lefty is 4-3 with a 3.71 ERA in 15 outings for Columbus and owns a career minor league WHIP of 1.22.

Major League Baseball announced the rosters for the 2025 edition of the Futures game that will take place at Truist Park. Fifty of of baseball’s brightest prospects, including nine players ranked among MLB Pipeline’s top 22 overall prospects will be in the field.

The game will air live on MLB Network at 4 p.m., followed by the All-Star Celebrity Softball Game.

The National League roster is headlined by Colorado Rockies’ Charlie Condon, the third overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft and winner of the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award. San Diego’s Leo De Vries, ranked as baseball’s third-best overall prospect according to MLB Pipeline, will also represent the NL.

For the AL, Detroit Tigers’ Max Clark makes his second consecutive appearance in the showcase. Clark, the third overall selection in the 2023 Draft, is currently ranked as the seventh-best prospect in baseball and the Tigers’ top prospect.

Among the 50 players selected, 42 participated in MLB’s Spring Breakout showcase this past March, and the teams feature a combined 17 former first-round draft picks.

Washington Nationals pitcher Marquis Grissom Jr. will play for the NL team while his father, former two-time All-Star and ex-Cleveland Indians outfielder Marquis Grissom, manages the AL squad. Hall of Famer Chipper Jones will manage the NL team.

Thirteen players representing six countries and territories outside the United States will take part in the game. The Dominican Republic leads with five representatives, followed by Venezuela with three, Canada with two, and one each from the Bahamas, Cuba, and Panama.

More than 86% of previous Futures Game participants eventually reach the big leagues, including 250 participants eventually becoming All-Stars themselves.

The seven-inning contest includes a NL vs. AL format. The NL currently holds a 3-1-1 advantage after earning a 6-1 victory last year in Arlington.
