Is the 2025 Atlanta Braves season toast? Maybe. Probably. The Braves may not admit it, and maybe they’ll pull of an unlikely comeback to relevance, but it’s more likely they don’t.
Which means, at whatever point they effectively mail it in, they have an opportunity. You don’t often get a team in a contention window that ends up with something on the order of multiple months to experiment in a no-stakes kind of way. It doesn’t mean they will experiment — they could just play out the string — but that would be oh so boring, and honestly, not very helpful.
I have my own ideas about what the Braves should do as far as a real-time, live baseball lab in games that matter, but I’ll withhold that for now. Instead, I’ll throw the question to you: you’ve got two-to-three months with this franchise with essentially no hope in the standings. What are you doing to learn things about baseball and/or this roster to set yourself up better for the coming years?
