The Texas Rangers have two injured members of the starting lineup who should be back on the active roster this weekend.
Jake Burger, who has been on the injured list since June 21 with an oblique strain, is starting a rehab assignment with AAA Round Rock this evening. Should things go to plan, Burger will be activated from the injured list on Friday, July 4, when the Rangers begin a road trip in San Diego.
Meanwhile, Wyatt Langford, who is on the injured list with a mild oblique strain, is slated to start a rehab assignment with Round Rock on Wednesday. If things go to plan with him, he should be activated on Saturday, July 5, the first day he is eligible to return. Langford said the oblique had been bothering him for a couple of weeks before he went on the injured list, and in his seven games prior to the i.l. stint, he slashed .200/.226/.267 in 31 plate appearances.
The expectation is that Justin Foscue and Michael Helman will be the players who would be sent down to make room for Burger and Langford. However, Evan Grant writes that Josh Jung could end up getting a temporary demotion to AAA once one of the two injured regulars return, due to Jung’s ongoing offensive struggles.
