CINCINNATI. (WILX) – Former Michigan State pitcher Sam Benschoter was added to the Cincinnati Reds’ 40-man roster and promoted to the major leagues for the first time on Tuesday.
Benschoter, 27, signed with the Reds organization as an undrafted free agent out of MSU in 2021. The right-handed pitcher has been climbing the ranks of the minor leagues since then and has posted a 4.06 ERA over 51 innings pitched at the Triple-A level this year.
