Aaron Boone says he must improve as Yankees fans call for his job originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Yankees’ midsummer collapse isn’t creeping anymore. It’s stomping. Since June 1, they’re 13–15, and the AL East lead that once felt comfortable has nearly vanished. Tuesday’s 12–5 loss to the Blue Jays was just the latest unraveling, and fans online were losing their minds.

In the wake of it all, with fans openly calling for his head, Yankees manager Aaron Boone admitted he needed to be better.
“Some of those guys have been leaned on heavily,” Boone told reporters.
“It’s on me. I’ve got to do a better job of getting those guys in positions where they can be successful.”
Translation: the bullpen’s wearing thin, and Boone knows it.

Mark Leiter Jr. gave up two runs on Tuesday. Luke Weaver gave up three, two earned. Geoff Hartlieb, only here because Fernando Cruz hit the IL with a high-grade lat strain, gave up three more.
That’s eight earned runs from the pen in five innings, in a division game the Yankees needed to win.

The bullpen has now allowed 15 earned runs in 13 innings over the last four games, and the fatigue is showing. Devin Williams hasn’t been used much in recent weeks. Jonathan Loaisiga, Tim Hill and Ian Hamilton have all had moments, but halfway through the season, the bullpen is showing its cracks.
And fans are taking notice.
The boos are louder. The comments are nastier. The vibe? Somewhere between numb and nuclear. It’s not just about losing games—it’s the way they’re losing them: late, sloppy, and avoidable.
Boone’s admission won’t quiet the noise. But at least he acknowledged the obvious. The Yankees are burning through relievers and bleeding momentum.

Make no mistake, Boone is not going anywhere. He has a new contract extension. He has the support of GM Brian Cashman and majority owner Hal Steinbrenner.
Fans calling for his head are howling into the dark.
