Former Detroit Tigers pitcher Buck Farmer has signed a minor-league contract to return to the Cincinnati Reds organization.
Farmer, 34, has had a rocky 2025 campaign, posting an 8.64 ERA over 16 2/3 innings in stints with the Triple-A affiliates of the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Angels.
Farmer pitched in parts of eight seasons for the Tigers before he was let go in 2021. He made his Major League debut in 2014 only one year after being drafted out of Georgia Tech. After beginning his career as a starter, Farmer settled into a relatively reliable role in the bullpen for the final three years of his Tigers’ tenure.
Following a brief stint in the Texas Rangers organization, Farmer signed with the Reds and made the team out of spring training in 2022. He spent three seasons in Cincinnati, posting a 3.68 ERA over 193 innings, with 194 strikeouts and 83 walks.
