There have been a few things the Los Angeles Dodgers have shown in recent years. To start, the Dodgers are willing to spend money with any team in the league.

In addition, the Dodgers aren’t afraid to make business decisions, and that was the case with Gavin Lux this past offseason.
They moved on from Lux, a decision that was the right one. While the former first-round pick of the Dodgers in the 2016 MLB draft was a big part in Los Angeles at times, he’s hitting .272 with four home runs and a 103 OPS+ for the Cincinnati Reds.
Simply put, he isn’t exactly missed.
But with the Reds playing the type of baseball they are, Yahoo Sports recently linked him to a trade to the New York Mets. The Reds are currently in fourth place in the National League Central with a record of 44-41, which isn’t bad, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see them make a trade or two.

If so, the Mets could make sense for the former Dodgers second baseman.
“The Mets could use a lot of help right now, and while starting pitching is the primary concern at this point, when you lose 13 of 16 games, there are many areas to improve. Despite a huge month from Juan Soto, the Mets’ offense has been pretty average thus far, and one of the most significant holes in their lineup is at second base.
“While Ronnie Mauricio and Luisangel Acuña are talented, neither has been able to take hold of the position. And with Jeff McNeil playing multiple places around the diamond, having someone who can play second on days McNeil is in the outfield or at third would be helpful… Gavin Lux (Reds),” they wrote.

The Mets, two games behind the first-place Philadelphia Phillies in the National League East, are expected to be heavily involved during the trade deadline.
Adding Lux doesn’t put them over the top, but he’d be better than what they currently have.
