The captain of the San Diego Padres is going to his seventh Mid-Summer Classic as the starting third baseman for the National League All-Star Team.
Manny Machado beat out Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy in the final step of the selection process as voted on by fans, MLB announced on Wednesday.

Machado made his first MLB All-Star Game in 2013. He followed that with selections in 2015, 2016, 2018, 2021 and 2022. He has been named an MLB All-Star starter four times and was previously named as a starter as a member of the Padres in 2022.
“Pretty cool,” Machado told Kevin Acee. “The best part about it is the fans voted. Thanks to all those people that put their time into it and recognized what we’ve been doing.”
Machado was the only San Diego player to reach the final fan vote to determine who would start at each position in each league for the MLB All-Star Game. Additional players from the Padres could join Machado as reserves or pitchers based on player voting and selections by the MLB Commissioner’s Office. Those players will be announced July 6.
The 2025 MLB All-Star Game will be played at Truist Park in Atlanta on July 15.
