The Warrior softball team celebrated Senior Night Monday, June 30, with a doubleheader sweep over Clayton Ridge. The pair of wins kept South Winn in the hunt for at least a share of the 2025 UIC title with a record of 12-2.

Game 1

      The Warriors were rolling from the top of the lineup to the bottom as they carved out four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Three runs were added in the second for a 7-0 lead.

      The Eagles plated a run in the top of the third, but the Warriors responded with two in the third and two in the fourth to secure a 11-1 win in four innings.

      Pitcher Aubree Gesing allowed just two hits and had four strikeouts to earn the win. Senior Abby Wagner hit her fourth home run of the year and Bailey Kuennen had a team-high four RBI in the win.

Game 2

      South Winn once again jumped out to an early lead by scoring a run in the bottom of the first, before tallying three more in the second to lead it 4-0 through two.

      Following a scoreless third, the Warriors doubled up their lead with four runs in the fourth. Each squad would plate two runs apiece in the fifth to cap off a 10-2 South Winn victory.

      Pitcher Bailey Kuennen struck out eight batters in her five innings of work. Senior Britney Hageman led the offense with three runs and four RBI.

      Following the results of Monday’s games, the Warriors (12-2) sit just a game back of UIC leaders Kee (13-1) and North Fayette Valley (13-1).
