The Minnesota Twins and Miami Marlins square off this morning in the rubber match of their three-game series, with both teams looking to head into the weekend on a high note. Last night, the Twins broke two streaks in one go—finally winning a one-run game after losing nine straight such contests, and in the process, snapping the Marlins’ eight-game winning streak.

Minnesota will hand the ball to David Festa. The Twins are 4-4 in his previous outings, but Festa has recorded just one quality start so far this year. Meanwhile, the Marlins counter with Eury Pérez, aiming to get the series win and keep Miami’s hot streak going.

There’s encouraging news for the Twins: Royce Lewis reports he is feeling good.

In the standings, the Twins are tied for second in the AL Central with the Guardians, both sitting 12.5 games behind the first-place Tigers. In the Wild Card chase, Minnesota trails by four games. Over in the National League, the Marlins hold a 38–46 record and sit 11.5 games back in the NL East, with a lot of ground to cover in the second half of the season.

First pitch is scheduled for this morning, with plenty on the line for two teams trying to stay relevant in their respective playoff races.
