Arkansas baseball is set for another top-five showdown this weekend, hitting the road to face LSU in a three-game series the begins Friday night (6:30 p.m., SECN+)

The No. 2 Razorbacks (40-9, 17-7 SEC) are the only team in college baseball with 40 victories and appear to be closing in on a national seed for the NCAA Tournament. They’ll look to add to their resume against the No. 4 Tigers (38-11, 15-9).

The Hogs sit two games behind Texas in the SEC standings after sweeping the Longhorns last weekend. Arkansas outscored the No. 1 team in America 28-9 and handed Texas its first series loss of the spring.

The starting pitch played a pivotal role in the triumph over the Longhorns. Zach Root, Gage Wood and Landon Beidelschies allowed five runs in 16 innings, with Root setting the tone by throwing eight scoreless frames in a 9-0 victory to open the series.

LSU will counter with two strong starters of its own this weekend. Lefty Kade Anderson and righty Anthony Eyanson rank 11th and sixth among SEC pitchers in ERA, respectively. The Tigers are coming off a series loss to Texas A&M.
