The Arizona Diamondbacks have been trying to stay in playoff contention despite a series of recent injuries over the past month.

While awaiting the return of catcher Gabriel Moreno as he deals with a fractured finger, outfielder Corbin Carroll was expected to be out for a significant amount of time as well while dealing with a chip fracture in his wrist.

It seems like the once-upon-a-time NL MVP candidate is making great progress with the injury and has made an appearance in a minor league game on Thursday night.
Just 14 days after the injury took place on June 18, Carroll was taking batting practice this week, only supposed to be just taking dry swings, but Carroll made a dramatic jump in his rehab.
Carroll was assigned to take simulated at-bats, but Diamondbacks’ manager Torey Lovullo was surprised by Corbin Carroll’s progress.

“I went out for BP. I saw him in the cage and hitting off [the Trajekt simulator] and he was lighting the ball up. He made a couple of comments, walked by me, sat with the trainer for a second. He said, ‘Do you mind if I play in the ACL game tonight?'” Manager Lovullo told reporters on Thursday night.

Corbin Carroll proceeded to play in Arizona’s Complex League game, getting four at-bats, hitting a ground ball to second, a flyout to left, and two walks in the game on Thursday night.
There haven’t been any reports on what the timetable for Corbin Carroll’s return to the Diamondbacks’ batting lineup may be, but it seems that he’s progressing well above expectations since injuring his wrist in mid-June.

Arizona has clearly been missing Carroll’s presence on the team, losing six of their last eight games and falling further behind in the NL West race.
The Diamondbacks now sit 12.5 games behind the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers, though they remian just 3.5 fames out of a National League Wild Card spot.
