ESPN’s Bradford Doolittle listed Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez as the team’s MVP for the first half of the 2025 MLB season.

Doolittle says that while Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte have played up to expectations, Suarez has exceeded them and is providing some much needed offense in their lineup.

Carroll and Marte have given the Snakes about what they expected — which is considerable — but Suarez has outstripped his projection and helped to shore up shortfalls elsewhere on the roster. From 2021 to 2024, Suarez averaged 2.4 bWAR per season; this year, he’s already at 2.5.

He also noted that Suarez’s power at the plate has been a reason that the Diamondbacks are still around the .500 mark despite injuries and bullpen struggles.

How well has Eugenio Suarez played in the first half of the season?

In 85 games, Suarez is among the top of the National League in several categories, including second in home runs (27) and RBIs (70), third in slugging percentage (.561) and 11th in OPS (.879).

On this same day last season, Suarez had only six home runs and 32 RBIs.

Suarez has been one of the bright spots for the Diamondbacks (43-44) who are currently fourth in the NL West and are 3.5 games back of an NL Wild Card spot.

He is set to be a free agent after this season and ESPN’s David Schoenfeld recently listed Suarez as a candidate to be moved at the trade deadline if the Diamondbacks decide to be sellers.
