Gehrig Frei had a solo home run for Mississippi State in the first game of a doubleheader against Ole Miss on Friday.

A missed opportunity with the bases juiced and Hunter Elliott teetering gave the No. 24 Rebels some juice. The next inning, Ole Miss poured on five runs and took control of game one of the series in a 10-4 victory.
It was the tale of two aces handling some adversity differently. Elliott was falling apart in the fourth inning as he allowed four-straight runners to reach and an RBI triple from Bryce Chance tied the game.
After that triple, Elliott walked and hit a batter to load the bases for Gatlin Sanders and he was down 3-1 in the count. Sanders swung and flew out to center to end the thread and Elliott finished his outing with six-straight outs.
