The Texas Rangers scored two runs but the San Diego Padres scored three runs in ten innings.

For like the fourth or fifth time in a couple of weeks, the Rangers entered the evening with a chance to climb back to .500 only for a loss to punt them back down and prevent them from evening their record.

Tonight’s game was even more frustrating on that front as the Rangers held an early 2-0 lead and never scored again, giving the Padres an opportunity to come back and eventually win in yet another dreadful extra innings affair.

The loss was also Texas’ eleventh in a row against San Diego since the start of 2020 season. In fact, the Rangers haven’t won a game at Petco Park since Sep 15, 2018 when Ariel Jurado was the winning pitcher in one of the last games of Adrian Beltre’s career.

Player of the Game: Kumar Rocker tossed 5 1⁄3 innings of two-run ball (one of which was an inherited run after some poor defense in his final inning) in his fourth start in a row allowing two or fewer runs.

Up Next: The Rangers and Padres bump it back a few hours as RHP Jack Leiter is scheduled to pitch for Texas against RHP Stephen Kolek for San Diego.

The Saturday night first pitch from Petco Park is scheduled for 8:40 pm CT and will be carried on the Rangers Sports Network.
