DYERSVILLE, Iowa — Baseball legends rose from the corn once again as the Ghost players returned to the Field of Dreams, putting on a crowd-pleasing show that brought movie magic to life.

Visitors gathered at the iconic Dyersville ballfield for a free event that blended nostalgia, comedy, and baseball.

The Ghost players, dressed in vintage uniforms, stepped out of the outfield corn to cheers from families and fans.

Their performance, known as “The Greatest Show on Dirt,” combined light-hearted antics with impressive on-field skills, creating a memorable experience for guests of all ages.

After the game, the celebration continued with an interactive book event featuring Iowa sportscaster and author Scott Reister.

Hosted by the James Kennedy Public Library, Reister entertained the crowd with creative storytelling exercises, writing tips, and the real-life inspiration behind his new middle-grade thriller, Baseball Spy — a fast-paced story where Little League turns into a life-or-death mission.

“When I was up to bat as a kid, I had this fantasy that if I didn’t get a hit, a bad guy would blow everything up,” Reister said. “Decades later, Baseball Spy was born.”

The book became a No. 1 new release on Amazon in 2024 and recently launched as an audiobook. Two more installments in the Sports Spies series are in the works.

Both events were free and open to the public, drawing families to the historic field for an afternoon of fun, reading, and classic American baseball charm.
