Bohm, Schwarber each hit 2-run homers to power Phillies past Reds, 5-1
AT 6:00 I’M MATT BARCARO WITH METEOROLOGIST MARYELLEN PANN. WE HAD A BEAUTIFUL DAY YESTERDAY. WOW. WAS IT NICE? WONDERFUL. YEAH, ABSOLUTELY. AND REALLY TODAY, EVEN THOUGH THE HUMIDITY IS GOING TO COME UP A LITTLE BIT, IT’S NOT GOING TO BE TOO UNCOMFORTABLE. BUT IT WILL BE WARMER. SO MAYBE THE POOL IS A GREAT IDEA TODAY. LET’S TAKE A LOOK OUTSIDE OUR LANCASTER SKY CAM AND SEEING SOME BEAUTIFUL SUNRISE THIS MORNING. SOME HIGH CLOUDS OUT THERE. BUT ALL IN ALL, IT’S GOING TO BE A GORGEOUS START TO THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND. STORM TEAM LIVE RADAR NETWORK IS QUIET. HIGH PRESSURE IS DOMINATING OUR WEATHER. TEMPERATURES RIGHT NOW 55 IN LANDISBURG, 57 IN LEWISTOWN. WE HAVE UPPER 50S IN LEBANON AND EPHRATA 62. GOOD MORNING. ELIZABETHTOWN, 61 IN NEW FREEDOM AND 64 IN HARRISBURG. BUT LOOK, THIS IS THE STORY. STILL, THE LOW DEW POINTS. VERY COMFORTABLE, VERY NICE OUTSIDE AT THIS HOUR. GOOD MORNING TO GET OUT AND TAKE THAT MORNING RUN OR WALK. TEMPERATURES AROUND 9:00 IN THE LOW 70S. WE’RE HEADED INTO THE UPPER 80S LATER TODAY. YOU’LL NOTICE THOSE WINDS COMING IN OUT OF THE SOUTH 5 TO 10MPH. AND THAT’S WHAT’S GOING TO BRING THE HUMIDITY UP A LITTLE BIT IN THOSE WARMER TEMPERATURES. SECOND HALF OF THE WEEKEND IS STILL DRY, BUT YOU WILL DEFINITELY FEEL THE HUMIDITY AND IT’S GOING TO BE A HOT ONE. I’LL HAVE MORE ON THE SECOND HALF OF THE WEEKEND AS WELL. AND WHEN RAIN CHANCES RETURN TO THE FORECAST. HEARD A LOT OF THAT LAST NIGHT, RINGING IN THE FOURTH WITH THOSE BOOMS. FIREWORKS LAUNCHING IN COMMUNITIES AROUND THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY AND THE COUNTRY. AS WE ALL CELEBRATED 249 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE IN LANCASTER COUNTY, THE TRADITION NEARLY AS OLD AS AMERICA ITSELF AT THE LITITZ SPRINGS PARK FIREWORKS SHOW, THE CELEBRATIONS THERE TOOK TEN MONTHS TO A YEAR TO PLAN, AND THEN ALL THE HARD WORK WAS ALMOST WASHED AWAY BY THOSE BACK TO BACK STORMS THAT FLOODED THE PARK. FORTUNATELY, CLEANUP WAS QUICK AND THE COMMUNITY WAS ABLE TO CELEBRATE ALL THE EVENTS AS NORMAL WITH PICTURE PERFECT WEATHER. THIS YEAR’S SHOW NOT ONLY HAD TRADITIONAL FIREWORKS, BUT ALSO A DRONE SHOW. DEFINITELY MOST EXCITED ABOUT THE FIREWORKS. THAT’S WHY WE COME EVERY YEAR. WE’VE GONE TO A LOT OF FIREWORKS SHOWS AND THIS IS OUR OUR FAVORITE. ONE OF THOSE DRONES LOOK PRETTY COOL THERE, AND SOME PEOPLE TOOK TO THE WATER TO CELEBRATE THE FOURTH, THE LONG LEVEL MARINA IN LOWER WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, YORK COUNTY, PACKED YESTERDAY WITH BOATERS ENJOYING A DAY ON THE SUSQUEHANNA RIVER. WE LOVE IT OUT HERE ON THE SUSQUEHANNA. AND JUST JUST THE ENVIRONMENT AND EVERYONE’S FRIENDLY AND HAPPY AND IT’S WONDERFUL. IN HARRISBURG, THE FOURTH LOOKED A LITTLE DIFFERENT THIS YEAR. THE CITY DID NOT HOST ITS OWN FIREWORKS SHOW, BUT THE HARRISBURG SENATORS DID. THE CITY DECIDED NOT TO HOST ITS OWN AFTER PANIC BROKE OUT LAST YEAR, WHEN A GUN WAS SPOTTED IN THE CROWD. BUT PEOPLE JUST HAD TO LOOK TO CITY ISLAND TO SEE THE FIREWORKS SHOW FROM THE SENATORS. BEFORE THE SHOW, PEOPLE ENJOYED ALL THESE FOOD TRUCKS FOR THE FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL. THIS IS MY FIRST YEAR, MAN. IT’S FIRST YEAR. I ALWAYS WANTED LIKE EIGHT YEARS AGO I DREAMED A DREAM COME TRUE. TODAY WE LOVE THE FOOD TRUCKS. I REMEMBER COMING HERE WHEN I WAS A KID, SO IT WAS A LITTLE DIFFERENT THEN, BUT STILL A GOOD TIME FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY. IF YOU’RE GOING TO BE CELEBRATING TONIGHT. UBER’S SOBER RIDE HOME PROGRAM, WHICH WE’VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT FOR THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS, CONTINUES INTO THE WEEKEND. RIDERS IN CUMBERLAND, DAUPHIN AND PERRY COUNTIES CAN GET A FREE VOUCHER THAT COVERS AN UBER RIDE FOR UP TO $20. VOUCHERS CAN BE USED FOR ONE MORE NIGHT. THEY EXPIRE AT 3:00 TOMORROW MORNING. YOU CAN GET A VOUCHER STARTING AT 7:00 TONIGHT. THEY’RE AVAILABLE AT SOBER RIDE HOME.ORG. AND IF YOU’RE DRIVING, YOU MIGHT BE ELIGIBLE FOR A DISCOUNT AT THE GAS PUMP. THIS IS FROM AMAZON PRIME. SUBSCRIBERS CAN GET A $1 OFF A GALLON UNTIL JULY 6TH TO GET THAT DISCOUNT, YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD THE APP CALLED UNIFY, WHICH IS FREE, AND LINK IT WITH YOUR AMAZON ACCOUNT. THE $1 DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE AT MORE THAN 7500 AMOCO AND BP GAS STATIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. TO REDEEM THAT OFFER, YOU ENTER YOUR PHONE NUMBER ON YOUR ACCOUNT WHEN YOU’RE FUELING. STATE POLICE HAVE INCREASED THEIR ENFORCEMENT THIS HOLIDAY WEEKEND. TROOPERS CRACKING DOWN ON AGGRESSIVE AND DISTRACTED DRIVING, SPEEDING AND DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE. POLICE ASK THAT YOU BE PATIENT IF YOU ENCOUNTER TRAFFIC AND IF YOU PLAN ON DRINKING ALCOHOL, HAVE A DESIGNATED SOBER DRIVER. 605 NOW AND IT TOOK HOURS TO CLEAN UP THIS MESS ON I-81 IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY. YESTERDAY, PENNDOT SAYS AROUND 830 IN THE MORNING, A TRACTOR TRAILER CARRYING PRODUCTS FROM TARGET HIT THE STEWARTSTOWN ROAD OVERPASS ON THE NORTHBOUND LANES BETWEEN NEWVILLE AND SHIPPENSBURG. THE TRUCK SPLIT OPEN AND THEN SPILLED AS YOU SAW EVERYTHING IN IT. THE TRUCK ALSO COLLIDED WITH THIS CAR, SENDING THAT CAR INTO THE MEDIAN BARRIER. NO ONE WAS HURT. THE INTERSTATE DID NOT FULLY REOPEN, THOUGH, UNTIL JUST BEFORE 5:00 YESTERDAY EVENING. NOW, I WAS JUST RIDING AROUND HERE AND JUST PULLED UP HERE AND JUST LOOKED LIKE A BIG WRECK OUT HERE. SO GOT NOSEY AND WANTED TO CHECK IT ALL OUT. JUST ONE BIG MESS, THAT’S ALL. I’M LISTENING. ALL THAT STUFF WAS JUST SHOVELED OVER TO THE SHOULDER TO BE PICKED UP AT ANOTHER TIME. OFFICIALS SAY THAT DAMAGE TO THE BRIDGE APPEARED TO BE SUPERFICIAL, SO NO BIG REPAIRS NEEDED THERE. WE DON’T Y
