TORONTO- The Los Angeles Angels fell to the Toronto Blue Jays in extra innings for the second game in a row in a 4-3 loss Saturday, July 5 at Rogers Centre.
The Angels had a handful of chances to pad the coreboard throughout the game, starting in the first inning.
Blue Jays starter Max Scherzer, returning from injury, ran into trouble right away, staring down bases loaded in the top of the first. Scherzer made matters worse for the Blue Jays by walking Angels outfielder Jo Adell to put the Angels on the board 1-0.
Los Angeles tried for one more run with outfielder Mike Trout breaking for home on a shallow fly out by Jose Soler, but came up short, being tagged out at the plate.

The Blue Jays would keep the lead through to the top of the seventh, when Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel singled to right field to score Luis Rengifo and tie the game 3-3. That score would take both teams to the 11th inning, with both bullpens tossing shut down ball in the eighth and ninth.
