DeSclafani Gets First Start of Season as D-backs Go For Series Win

DeSclafani will likely be on a pitch count of up to 70 maximum according to Torey Lovullo. He has not gone more than three innings in an appearance yet this season. Depending on his effectiveness, Sunday could quickly morph into a full bullpen game, however.

Ryne Nelson’s perfect game bid broken up in 6th inning vs. Royals

“If he was at 90 pitches or less (entering the ninth with the bid intact), he probably would’ve finished the game.”

The manager said he has to be stubborn about protecting his players in those situations, but Nelson was always going to get the seventh inning so he could get deserved appreciation from the crowd afterwards.

Ryne Nelson Mows Down Royals in Dominant D-backs Win

“Pretty lights out performance by Ryne Nelson on a day we really needed it,” Lovullo said. “Things were stretched out pretty thin last night. He comes in and just solidifies the entire game. Lets us get our footing offensively.”

Carroll activated, culminating speedy return from fractured left wrist

“He just wants to help the team win,” Suárez said. “And he’s hungry to play. He’s a guy who loves this game and just wants to be out on the field. It’s very impressive because with the fracture he has, they said he might be lost for like a month, but he’s back [much sooner]. It’s awesome for us. For me, I was very happy to see him back in the lineup.”

Former Chicago White Sox pitcher Bobby Jenks dies at 44

“We have lost an iconic member of the White Sox family today,” White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said in a statement. “None of us will ever forget that ninth inning of Game 4 in Houston, all that Bobby did for the 2005 World Series champions and for the entire Sox organization during his time in Chicago. He and his family knew cancer would be his toughest battle, and he will be missed as a husband, father, friend and teammate. He will forever hold a special place in all our hearts.”

Bees can fly higher than Mount Everest.

Bees are endlessly interesting creatures with a lot of amazing fun facts. One of which is that bees can fly over 29,525 feet above sea level. That’s even higher than Mount Everest, the tallest peak in the world.

Humans have jumped further than horses in the Olympics.

The Olympics has been a good measure for humanity’s physical limits and capabilities. You’d be surprised that the world record for the longest human long jump is even greater than the record for longest long jump done by a horse. When Mike Powell jumped 8.95 meters, he beat the record of Extra Dry who jumped at 6.10 meters.
